Change the way you see, to change the way you be

This presentation is what was used in the workshop on feelings

Importance of understanding, empathy and hence responding appropriately to child's emotional state & behaviour.

Empowering the child to manage emotions and seek own solutions. Training children to be aware and express feelings as basic blocks of self regulation or Emotional balance. This gives them an emotional environment which is conducive to acceptance and expression of feelings, growth of self esteem and through rapport best for learning. Helps children manage their emotions better to help them in learning.

A relationship to be Understood is the need of every child- Quote of Carl Rogers

If you are angry  --------what would you like your friend to do ?  What do we want someone to do for you when you are in  emotional situation……………What is the difference between acknowledging feelings.. Why do you want to know what Happens? DO you want a child who is dependent or the child who can cope up with the situation.

Focus on vocabulary of feelings; identification need not be exact; ask avoid questions (interrogative not too effective in emotional situation; lead with feelings vocabulary

How we often try to force out point of view, our solutions and then wonder why the child is not listening

we first need to build awareness; how we build awareness; Importance of expression and to be non judgmental about the expression - that behaviour is nothing but an expression of feelings. Trying to go behind the action instead of focussing on the behaviour
