Care Giver Training

PDF version

This document is primarily for the parents whose children are in the age group of 2 to 4yrs and they need the assistance of care givers. We believe and also train above 5yrs chidren to be indepenedent.

Dear Parents,
Care givers plays an important in your child’s’ stay at geniekids. We are sharing with you our training schedule for them. We look forward to your feedback

When Children come in the morning

Greet children with a smile, take their bags (if require), assist the child to climb up (if require). Do this gently; do not hurry to climb up. If required also scout them till their classrooms.

At the Shoe area

We allow kids to open shoes themselves and wait till ask for help. If required, assist the child to open the shoe.

Near the Step on GF

We allow kids to climb the stairs on their own at their own pace. Ensure that child holds railing as the child climbs. Gently place the child hand on the railing to emphasize this. Assist in climbing up by climbing behind them – ensure that we don’t push any child to climb fast or lift them up and carry them to climb fast.

We also insist that the care taker should remain quite – no words like “go fast”. Wait patiently for the child to climb up. Be there for their physical safety.

Snacks Bag

Care takers are gentle with kids; ensure that the children carry it on their backs so that their hands are free. We do not carry children bags.

Physical Safety

If two children are fighting care givers

1. Separate the children – ensure safety to both.
2. Do not scold any child. But gently and immediately take children to nearby facilitator.

Read MORE in “Safety in Geniekids”.

TOILET

Take the child gently inside the toilet. Care takers do not hold any child tightly or drag towards the toilet or talk to them negatively likes “do it fast.”

After the child is done – make sure the child washes hands with soap and wipe.

During the entire process we insist that we let allow the child to do things independently – wherever the help is required, extend gently.

Also clean the toilet seat with toilet paper, throw the paper in the dustbin (with lid). We wash hands with soap and wipe them before we attend to another child.

If children do toilet on the way or in the class room

Just stand there, lift the child gently and take him to the toilet. Even if child does this many times – every time repeat gently.

Gently wash the child with clean water and soap and wipe them with toilet paper. Get their change. Put fresh clothes, smile and send the child back to class.

Clean the toilet seat. Also wipe the class room area with moping cloth (only used for cleaning toilet). If the child has done potty on the floor – clean it first with toilet paper then with cloth as above.

Rinse the moping cloth and again wipe the floor. Rinse the moping cloth and keep back in place.

If the clothes are soiled

Wash the clothes, immediately after cleaning the child, with clean water. Put them in a plastic cover and keep in child’s bag. If the clothes are soiled badly – use soap and clean.

We also train children to DEMAND for clean toilet seat, clean floor and clean hand towel. We incorporate activity on hygiene, cleaning washing hands properly. Also train them to tell the faculty if the toilet is not clean.

We also train children to wait in the queue, not peep inside the toilet if another child is suing the toilet.

We look for parent’s assistance in incorporating the same training at home.

Crying child or Running nose

Care takers to keep clean paper napkins in their apron pockets, always. Wipe the running nose and throw napkin in dustbin (with lid). And do the same for tears.

Don’t use the same napkin for two children.

When Children go home

Similar to taking the up the stairs: no pushing or hurrying. If child need any help bring the child down gently. Scout the child till outside and hand over to parents. Ensure that the staircase area is well lit.

===========================================================

Dear Parents

  1. Care Givers are for giving care to children. They do not replace faculty in any which way. Hence, in geniekids, caregivers are not part of the classroom – they wait outside and come into the classroom when called by the faculty (or children).
  2. When coming to geniekids – please abstain from giving direct instructions or any feedback to the caregivers. If you need help ask for it from the faculty or the admin staff at reception. We will instruct the concerned care giver.
  3. It is our endeavours that the kids in our classroom are happy, independent and learning if you find us missing our mark give us your feedback.

We insist on –

¨                Dry toilet floor

¨                Dry toilet seat

¨                Clean hand towels

¨                Independence

¨                Emotional safety

¨                Acceptance

As a mother, I realize I had

Submitted by Radhai Rajaram (not verified) on Tue, 15 Nov 2011.

As a mother, I realize I had not been a great caregiver after going through this document. Thanks for giving me the learning. I had the belief that TTT will, for sure have a positive impact on my 'not so good' type of parenting... and I am sure this belief holds good and has got to do lot of good to me and my parenting...
Thanks GK and the whole team...:)
